Georgia Regents University Alumni Weekend Speakers Announced
With Alumni Weekend just more than three months away, we are excited to announce the featured speakers during Georgia Regents University’s Alumni Weekend 2014, a special celebration where alumni and friends are invited to return to campus; reconnect with friends, classmates, and faculty; and rediscover the beauty of Augusta in the spring. These outstanding individuals will bring their extraordinary experiences, humor, expertise, and insights that will not only entertain, but also challenge attendees and leave everyone wanting more.
The second annual Alumni Weekend Signature Event, held Saturday, April 26 at 5:00 p.m., will feature actor, author, and TV personality, Ben Stein. He will offer attendees laughter, insight, and tears as he explores society’s most quirky conundrums by dissecting the economy and helping attendees balance life priorities through a tour of life’s greatest absurdities. . The nation’s self-styled “hope for the new millennium” Stein’s career achievements range from speechwriter for President Nixon to the pop icon who starred as Ferris Bueller’s teacher. He is, above all, an expert on bringing meaning to both life and work.
New to the Alumni Weekend schedule, the Alumni Weekend Farewell Brunch and Jag20 Awards will be held on Sunday, April 27 at 11:30 a.m. and will feature best-selling author, celebrated entrepreneur, and groundbreaking thinker on leadership and innovation, William “Bill” Taylor. Having made his name as a hugely successful editor and entrepreneur who co-founded and took Fast Company magazine from start-up to a $340 million sale in less than six years, Taylor speaks with authority and experience on embracing people-centric approaches to leadership. Provocative and inspiring, Bill offers firsthand accounts of how game changers are transforming their companies and shaking up their industries—and insights into how you can do the same in your own organization.
This year’s Drs. Robert and Lois Ellison Lectureship Series during Alumni Weekend, held Friday, April 25 at 2:00 p.m., will feature Nina Tandon, CEO and co-founder of biotech company EpiBone. Named one of Fast Company’s Most Creative People in Business, Tandon speaks on the broad scientific and health care implications resulting from advances in stem cell and tissue engineering
